Discovering Our Life Narratives: You Can Wind Down from Time to Time

Raise your hand if you have ever questioned your decisions in life.

You probably can’t tell, but I’m raising both of my hands high up in the air.

Nowadays, we hear so many success stories of great people, such as Walt Disney, Oprah Winfrey, Simone Biles, and more. But have you ever thought to yourself, “When will it be my turn?”

When I was in high school, I thought I was going to make it big right after college. I imagined myself traveling to different countries and finishing law school (This is actually a long story that I’ll save for another time). But now, I'm in a completely different path. I’m an editor who enjoys writing every little blog post. I'm also quite happy being in the creative field. In fact, I get to exercise my creativity and meet many great people. I don’t think I could say the same if I chose a different profession. So what did I get from my experience?

I realized that there’s no one true way to happiness. Just like what Dan Kim conveys in You Can Wind Down From Time to Time, we’re all experiencing life for the first time. We’re slowly unfolding our own stories. Although you may not like where you are right now, you can change that. You can take as many detours and pitstops as you want before reaching your destination. So don’t feel pressured to follow a certain path just because someone tells you to or because that’s what you learned. Take the time to explore, and take it from us, you have so much time. You got this!

After all, your story is truly just beginning! ✨
